Coffee Shop in Oahu: Coffee Gallery

This is one of our favorite coffee shops in Oahu for so many reasons. First off, The Curb is a multi-roaster cafe. You can try not just several types of blends, but blends from several different roasteries—from Chicago-based Intelligentsia to Arkansas-based Onyx Coffee Lab to local Big Island Coffee Roasters.

And if you love a good pulled-up-by-their-bootstraps kind of story, you’ll love The Curb. In 2009, The Curb started as a food truck and got so successful that it moved into its own brick and mortar location. The Curb now has three locations.

The Curb is a great reason to explore the eclectic Kaimuki neighborhood just southeast of Honolulu. Kaimuki is known for its unique eateries and niche shops. Think hole-in-the-wall bento joints and candy and snack shops. Visitors describe the feel of the neighborhood as slower-paced than Honolulu or Waikiki. It’s the perfect place to truly relax and enjoy your coffee.

The Menu of One of the Top Coffee Shops in Oahu

In addition to the staple espresso-based drinks, The Curb offers matcha and chai tea lattes and nitro cold brew—coffee that’s charged with nitrogen that gives it a rich, creamy head almost like a porter or a stout. It’s the perfect drink for a really hot Hawaiian day or a stroll along the streets of Kaimuki.

We also love the “extra menu,” which is a small selection of unique drinks such as the Dandelion mocha, a mocha latte made with Dandelion single-origin chocolate, and “The Original Jammer,” a double espresso, with 5 g. of chocolate, 4 oz. of milk, shaken and served over ice in an 8 oz. jam jar.

One reason this is one of the area’s top coffee shops in Oahu is because it offers a small but diverse selection of foods. Poi (made from the taro root) banana bread and the cacao nib cookie pay homage to island cuisine. There are two sandwiches to satisfy the crowds: “the Meat” and “the Veg.” Both are made on ciabatta rolls – the Meat has ham, salami, bell peppers, spinach, provolone, mustard, mayo, and the Veg has pesto, basil, mozzarella, tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
