Looking for the best fish tacos in all of Honolulu? Look no further than South Shore Grill (you don’t even have to go on a Taco Tuesday). Located on Monsarrat Avenue just two blocks up from the Waikīkī Shell and Kapi‘olani Park (the eastern end of Waikīkī), this funky little eatery serves up delicious burgers, grilled seafood, plate lunches, and jumbo burritos, all prepared fresh, made-to-order, and featuring the best local ingredients available.
Make no bones about, the fish tacos are what makes South Shore Grill one of the best restaurants in Honolulu. Using locally-made corn tortillas, they feature South Shore Grill slaw, fresh tomato, green onion, and your choice of filling. Choose from Grilled Cajun Ono with aioli, Grilled Cajun Chicken Breast, Kalbi Steak, or Sauteed Cajun Garlic Shrimp. Get your tacos by the single, or as part of a two-taco combo with a side of rice and tuna-mac salad or French fries.
Plate Lunches and More at South Shore Grill
If for some unfathomable reason you are not in the mood for tacos, SSG has you covered. Their plate lunches feature all the local favorites (BBQ Chicken, Garlic Shrimp, Kalbi Beef, and even a Surf and Turf combo known as “Mauka to Makai”). The burritos are epic and feature all the same ingredients as the tacos, only in a gigantic, edible wrapper stuffed with hapa rice. Yes please! If it is a burger you crave, the grill is hot and ready to take your order. We recommend the “Mansions” (pastrami and cheese atop a hamburger patty) or the “Blue Holes” (Blue cheese crumbles with onion rings), but spice-o-philes won’t want to miss the “Incincerators” (Cajun spice, pepper jack cheese, hot sauce, and jalapenos). One thing is for sure, you don’t want to miss the delicious fries at SSG. Precision cut, perfectly fried, and speckled with your favorite seasonings (Cajun, garlic butter, or “suicide” with cheese, gravy, and more cheese), these bad boys are too good to share. Even if you get the big basket.
South Shore Grill is located at 3114 Monsarrat Avenue, and is open from 10:30am to 9pm Monday through Saturday and noon to 9pm. They do reserve the right to close for big surf, so check your surf forecast!
